Kayaking: Learn to Paddle
About this Event
Join us for a beginner paddling class! No prior experience required. 15+ only, accompanied by an adult.
We will provide all necessary equipment including: kayak, paddles, PFD (personal floatation device).
WHEN: Four sessions on Friday, June 19th from 10am to 2pm.
Session 1: 10am to 10:45am
Session 2: 11am to 11:45am
Session 3: 12pm to 12:45pm
Session 4: 1pm to 1:45pm
WHERE: Kayak programs are held at the Penn Water Access Area, a 10 minute walk from the parking lot along gravel trails. Paddlers must be on-time for their session or they will not be permitted on the water.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
You will have to wade into the water to get into the kayak, so please wear secure footwear that you do not mind getting wet and muddy. You will not be allowed to paddle or walk on the shoreline barefoot, as there are sharp rocks and shells in the sand.
All participants must sign a NY State Parks waiver in order to paddle. Participants are expected to wear a PFD at all times while on the water.
Our boats are all double sit-on top kayaks. Boats will be assigned based on group needs.
All paddling programs are weather dependent and subject to cancelation or rescheduling if weather, tide, or water conditions are deemed unsafe by the instructor.
