Sängerin, Songwriterin und Musikerin aus Slowenien, die Poesie, zeitgenössische Folk-Musik und traditionelles Erbe miteinander verwebt.
Ihre Soloperformance verbindet Stimme, Ukulele und Sample-Loops, eingebettet in Soundeffekte, Spoken Word, Erzählkunst und Improvisation. Ihr Repertoire umfasst zeitgenössische, alte und indigene Poesie, tribale Beschwörungen und neu arrangierte traditionelle Lieder von den Balkanländern bis nach Lateinamerika.
Nach ihrem Musikstudium an der New School in New York (Jazz & Contemporary Music Program) veröffentlichte sie fünf Studioalben: Mila (2008), Twisted Delight (2013), Kamlisajlan - Hommage an die Roma-Poesie (2016), Caricias (2021). Im Jahr 2024 veröffentlichte Katja ihr fünftes Album WEST WIND BLOW FROM YOUR PRAIRIE NEST, inspiriert von den indigenen Kulturen Nordamerikas. Das Album, das am Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) in New Mexico mit Unterstützung von CEC ArtsLink entstand, präsentiert indigene Künstler und vertont Originalgedichte renommierter indigener Dichter. Das Album erreichte die Top 20 der WMCE und wurde für den Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik nominiert.
Katja Šulc ist Trägerin mehrerer Stipendien, darunter das CEC ArtsLink Fellowship (2020–2022), das ihren Künstleraufenthalt am Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) in New Mexico unterstützte. Sie präsentiert ihre Musik regional und international, von Frankreich, Spanien, Portugal, Marokko bis hin in die Türkei, Nepal, China, USA, Mexiko, Guatemala, Bolivien und Brasilien.

Slovenian singer, songwriter, and musician interweaving poetry, contemporary folk and traditional heritage.
Her solo performance fuses voice, ukulele, and sample loops, enveloped in sound effects, spoken word, storytelling, and improvisation. Her repertoire includes contemporary, ancient, and indigenous poetry, tribal invocations and rearranged traditional songs ranging from the Balkans to Latin America.
After studying music at the New School in New York (Jazz & Contemporary Music Program), she released five studio albums: Mila (2008), Twisted Delight (2013), Kamlisajlan - Homage to Romani Poetry (2016), Caricias (2021). In 2024 Katja released her fifth album WEST WIND BLOW FROM YOUR PRAIRIE NEST inspired by indigenous cultures of North America. The album, created at the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) in New Mexico with the support of CEC ArtsLink, features Native artists and sets to music original poems written by renowned Native poets. The album reached WMCE Top 20 and was nominated for Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik.
Katja Šulc is a recipient of several grants, including the CEC ArtsLink Fellowship (2020–2022), which supported her artist residency at the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) in New Mexico. She has been presenting her music regionally and internationally, from France, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, to Turkey, Nepal, China, the USA, Mexico, Guatemala, Bolivia, and Brazil.
