Edinburgh based songwriter Dan Willson, has long been considered a unique and talented voice in indie music. Lauded by the likes of King Creosote as “the UK’s best lyricist” no less, working with Darren Hayman and championed by BBC 6 Music’s Marc Riley, since his debut album, ’Good News’ back in 2009, he has built up a loyal fanbase and reputation as one of the UK’s most unique songwriters. His recent friendship with Kathryn Williams has culminated in a meeting of beautiful minds and voices and produced a fantastic collaborative album that has shone a spotlight on both of their talents.
Since her Mercury Prize nominated album ‘Little Black Numbers’ back in 2000, Kathryn Williams has ploughed a rich and unique musical furrow in British independent music, building up an impressive and varied body of work. Having released 12 full length albums including a tribute to Sylvia Plath and her celebrated 2022 album Night Drives, which was highly acclaimed by Uncut, the Observer and MOJO, she is no stranger to collaborations, having worked with the likes of Norma Waterson, Carol Ann Duffy, Anthony Kerr and Neil Maccoll, as well as the late great John Martyn.
