This fundraiser is a little different... and I reckon it's one you won't want to miss!
As some of you know, our whānau is part of the Maidstone Intermediate AIMS Games Rippa Team this year. To help get our team to Tauranga, we're doing a bit of fundraising along the way. Rather than another sausage sizzle, we wanted to bring our community something a little different....an evening that not only supports our tamariki, but also gives you practical, valuable insights to take home and use in your own whānau.
We've been incredibly lucky to secure the amazing Kathryn Berkett to present one of her most popular talks:
🧠 What's Going On? Navigating the Adolescent Years
If you've ever looked at your pre-teen or teenager and thought...
🤯 "What the hecka is going on in that brain?!"
...this night is for you.
Kathryn is one of New Zealand's leading neuroscience educators and has an incredible way of making sense of what is happening in young people's brains. She'll unpack why our rangatahi think, feel and behave the way they do, while sharing practical tools and strategies that parents, caregivers, teachers, coaches and anyone working with young people can put into practice straight away.
(No promises they'll suddenly start washing the dishes... but you'll probably understand why they don't! 😅)

🎟️ $20 per ticket
Every dollar raised goes directly towards supporting the Maidstone Intermediate AIMS Games Rippa Team on their journey to Tauranga.
Kathryn's book, What's Going On in There? – The Neuroscience of the Adolescent Brain, will also be available for purchase on the night, with a portion of book sales being donated to the team.
If finding a babysitter is the only thing stopping you from coming, bring the kids along. We'll have the school library open with adult supervisors so they can hang out while you enjoy the session. We'd just ask that this option is only used if it's genuinely needed.
