Interlaced: Intermediate Trapeze Rope Workshop:
Interlaced is an intermediate–advanced dance trapeze workshop focused on creative, efficient, and dynamic sequencing within the ropes. Designed for adult students who already feel comfortable working off the bar, this workshop explores how the ropes can become an active choreographic partner rather than a transition space. Participants will investigate pathways and wraps, building fluid sequences that emphasize momentum, musicality, and spatial awareness. The workshop balances technical clarity with improvisational choice, encouraging dancers to develop personalized movement logic and expressive flow while maintaining safe, repeatable technique.
This workshop is ideal for students looking to expand their rope vocabulary, deepen transitions, and move with greater continuity and intention between shapes.
Prerequisites:
* Be comfortable working independently in the air
* Have solid fundamentals in dance trapeze technique
* Be able to safely enter, exit, and work in the ropes without instructor spotting
* Feel confident with inversions, hip hangs, and basic rope wraps (flamenco, crotchet and reverse grip)
Catching Waves: Low Dance Trapeze Exploration:
“Catch Waves” is a workshop built on guided dance trapeze improvisation & exploration. A trapeze rigged closer to the ground gives Kat the creative freedom to play with modern and contemporary movement styles more comfortably, while also blending the aerial arts techniques she has been developing for fourteen years. She loves being able to give other artists the creative liberty to do the same, with a coaching style that focuses on building foundational skills that will get students comfortable working low to the ground. The different skills & flourishes they'll be shown will help them break into & develop their own style of movement, helping them to feel uninhibited & free to play. These are all skills she personally cultivated on the hardwood floors of Challenge Aerial Atlanta and they include:
*Slides
* Spins
*Rolling around under the bar
*How to get from floor to air/air to floor with style
* Developing musicality, flow and personal style
By the end of this workshop, students will leave with a stronger intuition when it comes to movement. They will leave feeling empowered and emboldened, with a deeper connection to themselves, the dance trapeze, & their aerial artistry entirely.
Prerequisites:
* At least a year's worth of consistent dance trapeze experience at any level.
* Descent spin tolerance; comfortable with spinning on and off for about an hour.
* Come hydrated and fed!
* Comfortable rolling on hardwood. If not, knee pads are recommended (only applicable to studios with hardwood/marley flooring). If using flexmats, students must cover legs and feet to avoid burns.
* Comfortable and familiar with flamenco wrap and rolling on the bar in hip hang, back balance and armpits.
* Come with an open mind! Once you learn how to use the trapeze at an unconventional low height, this workshop begins to focus on creative exploration and the best way to unlock new pathways and creativity within your own body is to let loose and let go!
Beats & Dynamic Flow:
In this 90 min workshop we will learn basic beats and progressions on the top bar. Frontal and lateral beats will be the main focus of fun dynamic sequences. We will build flowing combos with rolls and re-grips to develop full body control.
Prerequisites: Strong and confident long arm hang. If you have questions about whether it's a good fit for you, please reach out to us at [email protected]
Splits All Over on Lyra:
In this 90 min workshop Emma will teach a few of her favorite Splits on the hoop. There will be different and unique grips and shapes to explore. These splits are for most levels of flexibility! A 180° split is not necessary.
Prerequisites: A decent range of mobility and flexibility. Must be able to confidently invert to top bar and feel comfortable navigating the full hoop. If you have questions about whether it's a good fit for you, please reach out to us at [email protected]
Twisted Transitions on Lyra:
In this 90min workshop Emma will teach a few of her favorite transitions. Expect some unusual and sometimes sneaky shapes that lead to new and old places.
Prerequisites: You should be able to invert easily and navigate the top of the hoop confidently. If you have questions about whether it's a good fit for you, please reach out to us at [email protected]
Forever Flares on Lyra:
In this 90min workshop we will break down the foundations and fundamentals of flares. From there, we will build on flaring to new entrances into the hoop.
Prerequisites: Must be comfortable with spinning. If you have questions about whether it's a good fit for you, please reach out to us at [email protected].
