Join us for a delightful children's storytime featuring two incredible authors — Karen Gay Napier and Dr. Sharon D. Wright Austin! Both authors will bring their beloved children's books to life for young readers and their families. This special combined session is part of the 2026 Africana Arts & Humanities Festival (AAHF) celebrating local authors and literary talent.
KAREN GAY NAPIER
Karen Gay Napier is a passionate children's author dedicated to creating stories that inspire imagination and foster a love of reading in young minds. Her warm, interactive storytelling approach makes her books come alive for children of all ages.

DR. SHARON D. WRIGHT AUSTIN
Dr. Sharon D. Wright Austin is a Professor of Political Science at the University of Florida and a proud autism mom. In addition to her acclaimed academic work, she has written a touching children's book inspired by her personal experience raising a child on the autism spectrum.
Featured Book: Allan Learns to Talk
Allan is a five-year-old non-verbal autistic boy whose family learns how to communicate with him through sign language. They learn to help and love him as he is, and once Allan learns to communicate, his behavior improves as well. This heartfelt story educates children and adults about speech delays and nonverbal autism with compassion and hope.
