Karaoke to Catharsis is for all singers. Especially if you are looking for a place to feel supported in your voice, this is the place be. If you are looking for a place where you can learn to sing with ease and confidence, this is the place to be. If you are looking to foster and solidify your connection to your voice through body and spirit, this is the place to be. If you are looking for an opportunity to sing that awards authenticity over perfection, this is the place to be. If you are looking to dig deep within to find your most emotional and moving vocal expression, this is the place for you. There are 10 slots available for this masterclass as it is meant to be intimate and vulnerable.

This is a masterclass style voice workshop where each singer will get 1:1 instruction from Kayla Green, a voice teacher, singer, actor, with over 2 decades of performance experience. The first half of the class is a group voice embodiment practice designed to ground you in expressive sound making, and the second half of class is 1:1 work being witnessed and witnessing catharsis.

The principles of Kayla’s teachings have been developed from her close work with Jonathan Stancato and his Inside Voice Technique as well as her extensive work in the classical Bel Canto tradition in voice, and her deep love for musical theatre, americana/folk music, rock and roll, and The Great American Songbook. Kayla is one of only 6 people to ever be trained by Jonathan to teach his techniques. To teach you that you ARE a singer, and a great one at that, is one of her deepest pleasures.

Bring your favorite song with you either in your head or with lyrics available (on phone, tablet, or best option, paper). I will ask that you have 4 consecutive lines memorized. for example:

1. Amazing Grace, How sweet the sound
2. That saved a wretch like me
3. I once was lost, but now am found
4. was blind, but now I see -"Amazing Grace"

Any song is a "good song" for this event, as long as you LIKE the song and LIKE to sing the song. Even better if it tugs on your heart a bit.
