Born in suburban Sydney, Australia, Kara began her career at 16 with her brother in the band Papa Lips, touring nationally and releasing two albums. Influenced by Memphis soul and New Orleans funk, she launched a solo career in 2008 with Grand and Green River, which spent 38 weeks in the Americana charts. Since then, she’s released multiple acclaimed albums, including Shiver and Sigh, Living With Your Ghost, and her latest, That’s How I Got to Memphis, recorded at Royal Studios with the Hi Rhythm Section.

Kara has toured the US, Europe, and Asia, performing at festivals such as Portland Waterfront Blues, Austin City Limits, and Jakarta International Blues Festival, and has opened for legends including Peter Frampton, Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal, and Jonny Lang. Her powerful voice, heartfelt songwriting, and slide guitar mastery make every performance unforgettable.

With the purchase of a ticket, Sapphire guests are eligible for The Riverside Hotel's "Sapphire Getaway" for $179 + tax. This rate is available for the night of the Sapphire Room show and includes a standard hotel room (double occupancy) and breakfast for two the following morning. To reserve, please call the Riverside Hotel front desk at 208-343-1871. The Sapphire Getaway rate is subject to availability and blackout dates. It will not be available for every show.
