Time: 1pm-6pm

Hosts:

  • Kabataang maka-Bayan (KmB), or Pro-People Youth, @kmb_la, is a progressive organization which raises the social consciousness of youth, encouraging them to organize and mobilize in response to the issues affecting our local communities, the oppressed people of the Philippines, and other pro-people issues around the world.
  • Sunday Jump, @thesundayjump, is a community arts organization based in the Historic Filipinotown neighborhood of Los Angeles. Founded in 2012, Sunday Jump’s mission is to facilitate a safe space for marginalized voices to share stories and create genuine connections through the arts. To ensure a welcoming space for everyone, Sunday Jump has two community guidelines: (1) express, not impress and (2) free speech, not hate speech. This organization’s founders and leaders are award-winning poets and community activists who have shared their work across the nation. Community Sponsors:

  • Pilipino Workers Center (PWC) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization located in Historic Filipinotown, Los Angeles, but serves Filipinos throughout Southern California. PWC focuses on providing programs that help meet the immediate needs of workers and their families while at the same time building their leadership to take collective action for long lasting change. Learn more at http://www.pwcsc.org.
  • Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust was founded in 2002 to address Los Angeles's park inequities. They focus their efforts exclusively in communities of color that have little to no access to green space. Their successful community development model engage residents from the beginning of the design process, through construction and ultimately the stweardship of the parks and gardens they create. To ensure the long-term impact of their efforts, they are working towards equitable green space development through grassroots policy reform.
  • Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open Space District has made a remarkable impact by awarding over $1.7 billion in grants. These funds have empowered cities, county departments, state and local agencies, and community organizations to revitalize our parks, elevate recreational facilities, and enhance trails and open spaces.
