Our speaker, Dr. Adam Hodge, is the Head of Reference at the Kansas Historical Society in Topeka. Adam has a Ph. D in History with specialty in environmental and Indigenous history of the North American West. His program presentation will explore the cultural and environmental landscape in Kansas at the time of the revolution and how a changing climate, Indigenous burning practices, waterways, and other developments shaped and reshaped what later became the state of Kansas.
This program will help set the stage for our celebration of the nation's 250th anniversary. It will relate to how Kansas and lands west of the Mississippi figure into the history.
The meeting begins at 7 with a brief business meeting followed by the historical program.
Refreshments will be served after the program.
This program is sponsored by Humanities Kansas.
