The Polish resistance stages a massive uprising against occupying Nazi forces in Warsaw. As they are overcome by the overwhelming numbers of Germans with superior firepower, remnants of the Home Army must retreat into the sewers. Gorgeously photographed, exquisitely staged, and densely claustrophobic, Kanał is a masterpiece of postwar film.
