KAARLA WIRREN is a performance like none other. The vision of local Elder, Aunty Carol Pettersen and presented by Southern Edge Arts with Noongar Associate Director, Rachael Colmer, this performance celebrates the resiliency of people in the face of historic change.Located in the large amphitheatre at Albany’s Historic Whaling Station, KAARLA WIRREN features fire artists performing alongside a cast of local young people who have worked for 6 months to create this spectacular performance.
Audiences will picnic under a canopy of stars as we share this special story of fire and its connection to spirit. Across all of humanity, fire has been a place of meeting, and in 2026, we will gather around the fire of KAARLA WIRREN and reflect on the past, and our shared future.
Bring your own rug or low chairs. BYO picnic (no food is available onsite). Dress warmly. This is an alcohol-free outdoor event.
