International Day of Yoga (June 21) – Yoga for the Papírsárkány Children's Foundation
On the International Day of Yoga, we join a special initiative supporting the Papírsárkány Children's Foundation, helping children living in state care through a charity yoga class.
Yoga with Purpose
The Papírsárkány Children's Foundation works to brighten the everyday lives of children living in state care and children's homes. As they write, “Our foundation aims to make the everyday lives of children living in state care more colorful.” With nearly 80 volunteers offering weekly developmental programs, their mission is to create a safe, supportive and inspiring environment. This year, on the International Day of Yoga, they invite yoga teachers to join a nationwide initiative by offering the full or partial income of a class to support these children. We are honored to participate.
Why This Initiative Matters
Yoga and movement nurture both body and soul, which is especially meaningful for children growing up without a stable family environment. The idea for this initiative began when a yoga teacher donated the income of one class to the foundation, inspiring a broader collaboration. By offering the proceeds of our June 21 class (or a nearby date), we directly help the foundation reach more children with their programs. In return, they highlight participating teachers on their social media channels and newsletters, and provide all communication materials needed.
Join Us on June 21
The International Day of Yoga is a global celebration of peace, awareness and unity. This year, we add a deeper purpose: supporting children who need care, stability and encouragement. As the foundation writes, “We are launching a joint initiative for the International Day of Yoga and warmly invite you to join as an instructor.” We have joined — and we welcome you to practice with us and contribute to this meaningful cause.
Namaste,
Margitszigeti Jóga
