NEW SHOW! JUST THE 2 OF USYou may be hard-pressed to find a more unexpected singing duo than veteran, award-winning Canadian chanteuse Joëlle Rabu and Nigerian-born rising star Buwa. Born on opposite sides of the world and decades apart they have nonetheless met their musical match in one another.
Two vocal powerhouses, with musical tastes and ambitions blurring all lines of genre and era, Joëlle & Buwa join forces in a new show - Just the 2 of Us.
Just the 2 of Us is a celebration of their favourite music spanning six decades and over a half a dozen genres including powerful pop legends of the 60's,80's and 90's (Shirley Bassey, Piaf, REM, Fleetwood Mac, Whitney Houston...), Broadway hits (Les Miz, Hairspray, The Greatest Showman...), R&B, Latin classics, contemporary African tunes ... a smorgasbord of music crafted especially for this unique concert.
Though nostalgia abounds, Joëlle & Buwa interpret each song through the lens of their diverse experiences, breathing fresh life and vitality into timeless classic melodies and immortal songs. Humour, engaging banter from the nostalgic playful to the edgy risqué is always on the menu with these two singers.
What awaits…sincere storytelling, heart-stopping ballads, unforgettable musical prowess, backed by a fabulous ensemble of multi-instrumentalists, featuring Brad Shipley on guitars, Alexandra Lee on cello and piano/musical direction by Nico Rhodes. And all framed by a friendship that defies all expectations.
