Just Farm Transitions
About this Event
Food system transitions toward sustainability and improved public health nutrition outcomes are needed to address pressing global needs, but such shifts may pose risks to established farmer livelihoods and regional economies. To have a farming transition that is just, deliberate, adequately-resourced transition pathways must be co-developed, and siloes must be broken down. This convening aims to bring together farmers, researchers, food technologists, chefs, and advocates to examine structural barriers and bolsters to a just transition as well as the most promising avenues to align farmer economic security with evidence-based public health and environmental imperatives. Diverse perspectives, open dialog, and cross-cutting topics will be documented, with insights analyzed to identify possible priority obstacles, benefits, and next steps to inform policy.
