LOVE, JOY AND POWER: TOOLS FOR LIBERATION–A feature-length documentary film about Black Voters Matter, Directed by Daresha Kyi
Follow the founders of Black Voters Matter Fund, Cliff Albright, April England Albright and LaTosha Brown, as they travel to 13 cities empowering African American voters, especially in the rural south, to turn out in record-breaking numbers and flip Georgia from red to blue in the 2020 Presidential election. This intimate, behind-the-scenes look at galvanizing grassroots organizing also details the many dangerous threats they faced to do this vital work.
The story takes on heightened urgency in the face of powerful attempts at voter suppression in the run-up to the 2026 mid-terms. It sheds keen light on the work that still remains to be done for America to make good on its promise of democracy for all.

• Amanda Shea is a three-time Boston Music Award-winning Spoken Word artist, a Black, queer creative at the intersection of poetry, music, social justice, and culture. Described by Boston Globe culture columnist Jeneé Osterheldt as a “connector of creativity and community,” Shea co-founded and curates Activating ARTivism, a community festival that amplifies artists of color, harnessing art as a vehicle for resistance, healing, and empowerment. Shea curates and hosts GBH’s Outspoken Saturdays, a platform that elevates local poets.
• Paloma Valenzuela is a Dominican-American screenwriter, playwright, and filmmaker originally from Boston. She is the creative director of the production company La Palomita Productions and was the writer, producer, and creator of the comedic web series “The Pineapple Diaries.” In 2025, Paloma began curating her film series “Now Playing” with JustBook-ish, for which she has received support from the City of Boston Opportunity Fund and the Collective Futures Fund.
