Join us for an adventure that will teach you all about what it takes to protect and manage local wildlife! We’ll take part in a mammal dissection, do a guided nature walk of the Millenium Trail, and play an animal food chain game to learn about the delicate balance of a healthy ecosystem.
Activities include:
- Mammal Dissection: Ever wondered how wildlife scientists and managers learn about animals? Participants will learn what a necropsy is and why this essential tool helps us understand animal health and the threats they face in the wild. Note that this activity will involve seeing and learning about the internal anatomy of an animal specimen (we’re unsure of what species yet), which some participants may feel uncomfortable with. Please use your best judgment before signing up your participant for this program.
- Wolfville Millennium Trail Adventure: Discover "The Wild Side of Town," a guided nature walk to uncover the hidden wildlife right here on the Wolfville Millenium Trail! We'll search for different species, identify signs of animal life, and discover how the local environment supports a vibrant ecosystem.
- Animal Food Chain Game: In this interactive game, participants will step into the shoes of different animals and navigate a food pyramid; to find food and water while avoiding predators, all while learning about the delicate balance of a healthy ecosystem.
Unlike our summer programs, there is no nomination process for field trips. Registration is first come, first served, and can be completed on the program’s Eventbrite page. This program is pay-what-you-can, and your donation must be made upon registering. If you are not able to make an online donation, please contact Alanna at coordinator[at]terranautclub.com ASAP to reserve a space. If the program is full and you would like to be placed on the waiting list, please contact Alanna.
Get ready for an adventure that will bring you closer to nature and teach you all about what it takes to protect the wild!
