Junior Ranger is everywhere these days. We prefer Junior Caver. It's a little more, well, underground.
Join us for the 5th annual Junior Caver Day at Jewel Cave National Monument, a free drop-in event built for young explorers and the families who love them. Come anytime between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, stay as long as you like, and head home with a new patch and a few cave stories.
**What's happening:**
🪨 **Hands-on crafts and activities** that bring cave science and exploration up to the surface.
⛑️ **Caver gear dress-up.** Try on a real helmet and headlamp and see what it feels like to head underground.
🔦 **Meet the experts.** Chat with the volunteer cave explorers who help map one of the longest caves in the world.
🏅 **Earn your badges.** Finish a series of activities to earn a Junior Caver patch and Cave Scientist badge.
🎖️ **Swear-in ceremony at 2:15 PM.** Take the pledge and make it official as a Junior Caver.
**Good to know:**
- Free, no registration. Just drop in.
- Designed for kids of all ages.
- Rain or shine. Most activities are indoors at the Visitor Center.
- Wear comfortable clothes for indoor and outdoor fun, and bring water. All dress-up gear is provided.
- Want to go underground for real? Book a Jewel Cave tour ahead of time at recreation.gov. Tours fill up fast.
