About this Event
Celebrated on the 19th of June every year, Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. The holiday invites us to celebrate and acknowledge the resilience, progress, and enduring fight for freedom. In advance of Juneteenth, join Green-Wood’s coordinator of education and public programs, Tiva Baloi, to visit the graves of remarkable individuals who fought tirelessly for justice, wielding their financial resources, pens, and voices as tools to dismantle slavery and ongoing systemic racism. You’ll discover James Weldon Johnson, lyricist of “Lift Every Voice and Sing” and leader in the NAACP; Charles L. Reason, mathematician, linguist, educator and collaborator of Frederick Douglass; and Elizabeth Gloucester, friend and supporter of abolitionist John Brown.
Please note that if only 1 ticket shows as available during the purchase process that is the last ticket available.
