Juneteenth Celebration "Carry Freedom Forward"

Westerly ARC will host Westerly’s sixth annual Juneteenth Celebration in Wilcox Park. This year’s theme, “Carry Freedom Forward,” honors the many ways Americans continue to expand the promise of liberty, democracy, and equal rights.
The family-friendly event will feature music and performances by local musicians Frank Pendola and Big Lux, Sidy Maiga a west African drummer, and Sylvia Ann Soares, from the Rhode Island Black Storytellers, along with performances by students from the International Dance & Fitness Academy. Westerly Rotary will sponsor a specially prepared Juneteenth tasting menu prepared by the Westerly High School Culinary Arts students.
The celebration will include ARC’s annual Community Spirit Awards honoring individuals and organizations whose leadership, service, and commitment have strengthened diversity, inclusion, and community life in Westerly.
