June Meeting
As the Tulip Poplar and Black Locust nectar flows begin to wind down across Maryland's Eastern Shore, June is a critical time to monitor hive health and practice essential management skills. Join us for a hands-on, educational evening at our next LESBA club meeting!
This is a fantastic opportunity for "Newbees" to build confidence and for seasoned beekeepers to share their knowledge.
 Date: June 10th
 Time: 6:45 PM – 8:00 PM
Location: The Wicomico County Extension Office
(28647 Old Quantico Road, Salisbury, MD 21801)
What We’ll Be Doing (Weather Permitting):
Hands-on In-Hive Session: Get up close and personal with the colonies.
Performing Mite Washes: Learn the UMD and Penn State Extension standard for monitoring Varroa destructor levels.
Practicing Queen Handling: Safely practice marking and handling techniques on drones.
Frame Inspections: Learn what to look for regarding brood patterns and food stores.
Q&A: Bring your questions—our experienced members are here to help!
What to Bring:
Please bring your own veils, suits, and jackets. If you have extra protective gear, please consider bringing it along to share with new members who might not have their own equipment yet!
Note: If we experience inclement weather, we will move the meeting indoors for an open-forum discussion covering these same vital topics.
We can't wait to see you there and talk bees!
