June Art Book Club: Why We Make Things and Why it Matters

Each month, Art Book Club will dive into a different book about art, design, or the creative process—no academic jargon, just good conversation and fresh inspiration. The book club is a low-pressure way to connect, reflect, and recharge within a creative community.
This month, we’re reading Why We Make Things and Why it Matters, by Peter Korn. Grab a library copy, or purchase from a local bookseller, read the book on your own and join us on June 22 for a lively discussion!
The Art Book Club is led by WildCraft staff member Brittany Knotek. Brittany is a practicing artist, avid reader, and skilled conversationalist. She started a book club for artists and creatives as a passion project in 2024, and is excited to offer this version to the wider Portland community, and to build deeper connections through shared conversations around inspiring books.
We’re pleased to offer this accessible community program to benefit the local Portland nonprofit Elbow Room. Profits from the $20 registration fee will be donated. No one turned away for lack of funds - email [email protected] if cost is a barrier to participation.
