Monitor Horseshoe Crab in Barnegat Bay
ATTENTION: We will meet in Parking Areas 6 & 7 at Island Beach State Park. Parking Areas 6 & 7 is about 3 or 4 miles from the park entrance, and about a mile from the general punlic swimming areas.
We will be monitoring horseshoe crabs in the water near Tice's Shoal area.
Join us in person on to explore the amazing world of horseshoe crabs! Save Coastal Wildlife and Friends of Island Beach State Park conducts a yearly community science event to monitor horseshoe crab populations in Barnegat Bay.
We welcomes community volunteers to support us with horseshoe crab monitoring surveys. We invite anyone who is interested in this fascinating creature to participate.
Volunteers are required to be trained in survey protocols before being able to participate in a survey. Please wath the online training video before the event:
On the monitoring day, please dress for the weather and wear shoes or boots that can get wet. We prefer waders or hip boots. You will be in the water!!
The event will be cancelled due to harsh weather conditions.
