JULY Summer Mid-Month Dance is Coming

Hello, dancers! Look to July for the next mid-month dance.
We are taking another mid-month dance break in June as we all spend some (unscheduled and alternatively scheduled) summer time with family and friends.
After the July First Friday dance (to be posted), join us the THIRD Sunday of NEXT month: JULY 19 (and also AUG. 16) for Mid-Month Dances at Columbia Friends Meeting House.
Each dance offers another opportunity for creating safety and community together in a space free of judgement. Columbia Ecstatic Dance Collective gently structures each dance by a welcome and a closing circle of introductions that bookend a crafted playlist of airy, folksy, funky, pop-sy, acoustic, indigenous, classic, serene, silly, reverent, or boisterous recorded sound that starts slow, picks up the tempo, and comes back down.
In our meditation through conscious movement, there are no dance steps to follow or expectations to dance with others. Make up your dance as you go--or break into a waltz... Feel what you need to, take time to draw or stretch. Daydream in the streams of light on an old wooden floor. It's not uncommon for people to do yoga or lay down, as they are led. Many people re-find center and shed some heaviness by reconnecting body, mind, and spirit through this interaction with sound, space, and people.
Bring your beautiful self, just as you are. Bring a friend. First-timers welcome. There are no pre-requisites except your humanity.
Doors open at 2:45PM
Opening Circle begins at 3:00PM
We ask everyone to please sign in at the door so that we can keep you in the loop about dance related offerings.
After signing in, get settled and join the dance floor for a period of grounding.
At the opening circle, facilitators of the Cola Ecstatic Dance Collective will say a few words about the space and intention of the dance.
After our 1.5 hour of meditative movement/ecstatic dancing, we will circle up for a bit to briefly (and optionally) share our experience before heading out into the world to share our love and good vibes.
WHAT TO BRING
* Water bottle
* Comfy, layered clothing
* $10 suggested offering
