An SMU ballet and journalism graduate, Julie Rogers first wrote for area newspapers and News of East Texas magazine. She later staged theater productions like her award-winning comedies Garage Sale and Santa Man. Her short story “House Call,” a Writer’s Digest 1999 Grand Prize winner, was acquired for publication by William J. Grabowski, reviewer for The Horror Show magazine.
Julie worked at RMCC Radio/TV while collaborating on screenplays and indie films under management of the late Jeff Ross. She shot and produced short films, including a Hot Wheels “Beat That” competition video.
Julie has published seven books, works remotely as a developmental editor for The Authors’ Assistant, and hosts Writers’ Colony’s Write Now podcast. Her latest novel, Falling Stars, is a recipient of sixteen awards, including a Kirkus Reviews “Get It” accolade.
Buffalo 8 Productions signed on as executive producer of Julie’s screenplay adaptation of Falling Stars in September 2024. Scottish Director Michael Hines is attached to direct the film in Eureka Springs. The project is currently securing funds and casting.
Julie is also packaging a biopic film from a screenplay she co-wrote with Nashville performer Bart Bryars about his prison-to-musician journey.
