About this Event

Funds raised by this event will be donated to the Migrant Solidarity Mutual Aid Network.
Over the fireworks? Retreat to Rock Creek Park's relative peace and quiet for some birdsong and a generative writing workshop. We'll follow a hiking trail by the creek for about a mile before returning to Peirce Mill. Along the way, we'll use our surroundings and bird sightings to generate a word bank.

Back at Peirce Mill, we'll use said word banks in a generative session lasting about an hour.

Words from Birds is led by local writer Foley O'Brien. Foley is a passionate environmentalist whose writing has received support from The Kenyon Review Writers Workshop, Electric Literature's education partner Writing Workshops Iceland, and One Story's Writing Circle. Words from Birds occurs on the first Sunday of each month.
