July: Boone Regional Beekeepers - extracting and selling honey
About this Event

Our July meeting will be in-person at the Animal Science Building on the MU campus. Clay Stem will demonstrate the club's extraction equipment and discuss how he prepares and markets honey for sale.

Clay's demonstration will focus on:

  • honey production
  • honey extraction tips and tricks
  • honey handling
  • honey bottling
  • state law honey labeling requirements
  • honey pricing
  • honey marketing


Additionally, member Mike Chippendale will give a historical presentation, The Buzz about Missouri Bees covering the remarkable diversity of our native bees, their life histories and behavior, and the essential pollination services they provide

Also, we will discuss some of the seasonal activities beekeepers could be doing in July. This will include evaluating your colony's general health and monitoring pest activities!

It's time for our annual bee and flower photo contest this month. Continue to send your photos to Carl Korschgen.

Deadline for submissions is 12:00PM Friday July 17 (NO EXCEPTIONS)

  • 5 photos per person each month
  • include the common and scientific name
