About this Event
Summer is in full swing and we hope you are staying cool in this heat!
BIPOC Psychedelic hosts their monthly gathering and community potluck on Tuesday, July 9th, 2024 in Denver 80205 from 6:30pm to 9:00 PM. (Consistently the 2nd Tuesday of every month). This event is for those who self identify as Black, Indigenous, People of Color = BIPOC. We understand this term isn't perfect or all encompassing of our beautiful diverse background and cultures.
Please bring a dish or something to share with the group. We will have cake! To be a more sustainable group, feel free to bring your own plate and utensils. We will have some paper plates and utensils to share.
You are welcome to gather over food, drinks and like-minded souls. We've had a few potlucks with just mingling and socializing but now we are easing into "doing the work" in co-creating intentional conversations among our beloved BIPOC community.
We hope you can join us. Please RSVP, space is limited to 22 people.
Date: Tuesday, July 9th, 2024 (every 2nd Tuesday of the month)
Time: 6:30 - 9:00 PM MT | Please plan to be on time. Or plan to arrive no later than 7:15 so you can settle in before our talking circle begins.
Where: Hope Tank, 1434 E 22nd Ave, Denver CO 80205 (This is our creative community event space, also available for event rentals and hosting your own workshops. Inquire if interested.)
Tentative Agenda:
6:30-7:15 pm | Gather and grab food, chat amongst ourselves: why we're here and what we're cultivating, brief intros all around (Arrive within this timeframe if you can't be there at 6:30pm)
7:15-7:25 pm | We'll share community agreements for our talking circle and will start to drop in. We'll revisit and discuss the prompt for our discussion, noted below.
We encourage you to share your voice. This is our chance to share, be seen and heard and we welcome you to participate.
7:30 pm | Our talking circle will begin and will close around 8:45pm. (We will break out in smaller groups depending on the attendance)
8:45pm | We'll start to wrap up and close out our evening with a group picture, 1-minute somatic exercise and start to clean up to be out by 9 PM.
*Theme for our July discussion: We are celebrating one year of gatherings together!
We'll briefly introduce ourselves around the large circle, share in an icebreaker: are you celebrating anything that you'd like to share? We'll go around and share.
We look forward to building this intentional space and in being in community together.
Next steps: After you RSVP, you'll get a link in your confirmation email to a Google Sheet where you can add your contact info and add what you're bringing.
Questions? Email [email protected] or text Melanie at 303-908-0931.
Save the date: the next gathering is the 2nd Tuesday in August: 8/11/24.

Disclaimer: Our gatherings at BIPOC Psychedelic cover a wide range of topics. Many of the prompts are created to encourage discourse in difficult topics such as (but not limited to) colonization/decolonization, ancestry, legacy, stewardship, racism, privilege, community, values, etc. There is an element of discomfort that is not for everyone. We know this. We welcome all who choose to participate with an open mind and respect each person’s level of interaction or lack thereof. We encourage all persons to seek that balance for themselves and engage or not engage to their level of comfort. We realize that our gatherings/activities may be a trigger for you. We encourage you to take the time to process and heal. This may require you to seek assistance with this process outside of our gatherings and we encourage you to seek that. The form that this takes is entirely up to each individual. We are not therapists and BIPOC Psychedelic as a group is not a substitute for counseling or other mental health therapy.
**Also, we like to take a group picture at the end of the event to share on our Instagram. We will make an annoucement but if you do not consent to the picture, you don't have to be in it. **
About BIPOC Psychedelic: We are a growing, BIPOC-led community org rooted in the heart of Five Points Denver. Calling on community leaders and people who want to help build a diverse, inclusive and more welcoming environment where people from communities of color can have and feel a sense of belonging. We are creating a BIPOC-centered space where BIPOC folks can lead, be seen and heard, rest, just be and cultivate joy together. The intention is to co-create community that amplifies BIPOC voices, honors ancestral wisdom and provides support to others in underrepresented communities within the psychedelic movement and beyond. Please note: Our monthly gatherings at Hope Tank are non-consumption events. We are a community group and regardless of your knowledge or use of psychedelics, we invite you to come and check us out. We are here for education, peer to peer support and community healing. Follow our journey and keep updated on events via Instagram @BIPOCPsychedelic
