Collegiate Peaks TU and Colorado Parks & Wildlife are once again teaming up to host what has become an annual community tradition. The derby is free and includes a free hot dog lunch for all participants and their families. The derby will take place the morning of Saturday, July 4, and is open to all kids through age 13.
Contestants provide their own equipment and lures or bait, but CPW will have extras on hand, so come on down whether you have a rod or not! Prizes will be awarded for first fish caught, longest fish, youngest child to catch a fish, and contestant living furthest from Salida. All participants will receive a souvenir t-shirt. Registration is 8:30 – 9:30; Derby is from 9:45 – 10:45, and lunch and prize awards will start at 11:00.
