The July 4th concert debuts a new piece honoring our country's Revolution with a true story, "Racing the Night: the teenage girl who saved the American Revolution".
It's the remarkable true tale of Susana Bolling, who is said to have risked her life and those of her loved ones to deliver a warning to the Marquis deLafayette. Her ride through the night saved Lafayette from Cornwallis' raid, and therefore helped win the battle at Yorktown and the war.
This powerful debut is the creative work of Virginia Beach playwright Gary Spell. Accompanied by our full Concert Band, five teenage actors sing the story of Susana's ride, "Racing the Night."
Then stay for the big Virginia Beach fireworks show at 9:30 PM!
It's all free to the public courtesy of IMGOING, the City of Virginia Beach and Tidewater Winds Concert Band.
