Join us for a special screening of "The Death of Juliette Derricotte", followed by a community Q&A and a collaborative art-making session to honor Juliette Derricotte's life and legacy.

Juliette Derricotte was an extraordinary educator, leader, and civil rights pioneer whose life was tragically cut short in Dalton, Georgia, in 1931. Together, we'll explore her story, reflect on its lasting impact, and create art in her memory.

This event also celebrates the Whitfield Remembrance Project's Literary & Visual Art Contest, inviting local artists, writers, students, and teachers to tell Juliette Derricotte's story through creative expression.

Prize Awards:

• $3,000 in total prize money
• $1,500 reserved exclusively for local high school students

The Whitfield Remembrance Project is a community initiative dedicated to researching, preserving, and sharing the stories of people whose lives were shaped by racial injustice in Whitfield County. Through education, historical research, public programs, and the arts, the project seeks to foster truth, remembrance, reconciliation, and a more just future.
