The Churchill Arts Council is proud to present an unforgettable evening of music featuring Julie Fowlis, the internationally acclaimed Scottish folk singer known for her luminous voice and deeply moving performances rooted in traditional Gaelic song. This special performance is presented in appreciation of Miss Margie, whose generosity and love of the arts have made meaningful cultural experiences possible for the community.
Renowned for her ability to bridge ancient tradition and contemporary audiences, Julie Fowlis performs primarily in Scottish Gaelic, bringing centuries-old songs to life with warmth, intimacy, and emotional depth. Her performances transcend language, offering audiences a powerful and immersive cultural experience, even for those experiencing Gaelic music for the first time.
Fowlis is widely recognized for her work on the Disney-Pixar film Brave, where her ethereal vocals introduced Gaelic music to a global audience. She has received numerous honors, including BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and Musician of the Year at Scotland’s Trad Music Awards, and has performed on renowned stages across Europe and North America. Her voice has been streamed on Spotify alone over 120 million times, and has been heard in space on an official NASA astronaut playlist.
