Julian Belbachir is returning to Australian shores for a five show tour that will give audiences a chance to be immersed in his unforgettable live show.
Julian Belbachir is a N’goni player (African Harpist) drummer, percussionist, producer, composer and multi-instrumentalist born in Sydney, to Moroccan and Australian parents. “Julz” starting drumming as a five year old and is a highly regarded artist best known as the jubilant percussionist in the massive grass-roots Indigenous dub band OKA. Julz has performed in over 30 countries including shows at Glastonbury Festival UK, Byron Blues Fest, Island Vibes and Vancouver int’l Jazz festival. He has dedicated life to studying and playing traditional folkloric music of North and West Africa and as such is creatively in demand as a producer, composer and musician and has collaborated with artists such as Tash Sultana, P’nau and Canadian acts Tribe Called Red and Leonard Sumner.
Julian has spent countless hours in many of Australia’s best recording studios producing albums and tracks for the notable collaborations such as: playing on award winning Best Album of the Year in the Juno awards ‘We Are the Halluci Nation’ (2017) by A Tribe Called Red and work with Australian music heavyweights Empire of the Sun and Pnau.

MOUSSA DIAKITE
Born in Mali, Moussa Diakite is an iconic guitarist, singer and composer. Playing the “Wassoulou” style of music from the Bougouni area of Mali, fused with elements of Malian, Congolese, Highlife, Afro Beat, Cuban, Blues, and Jazz, his career has been storied and groundbreaking. Alongside his Malinese musical peers and bandmates Salif Kieta and the late Toumani Diabite, Diakite has been one of the artists instrumental in bringing African and ‘World’ music to the Western mainstream.
Moussa Diakite’s modern Malian music is inspired by the rich musical traditions of his West African homeland. Moussa Diakite was part of Mali's generation of pioneering musicians in the 1970s and 80s.

These upcoming shows will take place in Byron Bay, Bellingen, Uralla, Wagga Wagga and Dubbo including Malian master guitarist Moussa Diakite and Qvln from California, USA.
Over five shows Belbachir will bring Morocco and Mali's rich musical traditions to Australian audiences, sharing the sacred sounds of traditional music from Northern Africa mixed with captivating soundscapes and ability to bring together artists and styles from around the world.
