Acclaimed singer, songwriter, arranger and multi-instrumentalist Judith Hill brings her dynamic artistry to Lakeside for an unforgettable concert experience. A vocalist of rare depth and versatility, Hill has been sought out by legends including Elton John, Spike Lee, Prince and Michael Jackson, a testament to her extraordinary range and musicianship.
Recognized as one of the most prominent background vocalists of her generation, Hill began her career in the early 2000s before boldly stepping into the spotlight as a solo artist.
Her distinctive voice shines across a series of acclaimed releases, including the Prince-produced Back in Time (2015), Golden Child (2018), Baby, I’m Hollywood! (2021) and her latest album, Letters from a Black Widow (2024).

Letters from a Black Widow reflects on a deeply personal chapter in Hill’s life following the deaths of Michael Jackson and Prince. After Jackson’s sudden passing in 2009, Hill performed lead vocals at his internationally televised memorial service, a defining moment that introduced her to audiences around the world.
Her remarkable journey from background vocalist to featured artist is chronicled in the Academy Award-winning documentary "20 Feet from Stardom," narrated by Morgan Freeman. The film highlights the untold stories of backup singers, celebrating the talent and resilience required to stand just outside the spotlight. Hill’s memorial performance remains one of its most powerful moments.
In addition to her recording career, Hill composed the soundtrack for Spike Lee’s film Red Hook Summer. Her performance and studio credits span an extraordinary range of artists, including Stevie Wonder, Rod Stewart, Josh Groban, Barry Manilow, Gregg Allman and Hozier.
She has worked across genres with jazz great George Benson and electronic pioneer Mike Oldfield, co-wrote Iggy Azalea and Jennifer Hudson’s hit “Trouble” and collaborated with Eric Clapton on his 2023 single “How Could We Know.”
The daughter of musicians Michiko Hill and Pee Wee Hill, she earned a degree in music composition from Biola University near her hometown of Los Angeles. With a commanding stage presence and a voice that blends soul, rock, funk and R&B, Hill continues to redefine what it means to step forward from the background and claim center stage.
