Performing a unique mix of jazz, Haitian, and Brazilian styles, Elliston weaves tender ballads and infectious grooves to create the perfect ambiance for a romantic night out. This performance will feature Judette Elliston on vocals, Finn Carroll on bass, and alana amore colvin on guitar.

Musician bios

Judette Elliston (they/she) is a Haitian-Canadian vocalist, composer, and sound artist based in Brooklyn, New York. Rooted in storytelling that embraces vulnerability and a visceral approach to improvisation, Elliston uses music as a catalyst for healing and transformation. Their music lives at the nexus of jazz, singer-songwriter, and Haitian folkloric traditions. In 2024, Judette released their debut EP , a collection of chamber jazz songs about intergenerational healing and the beauty of chosen family.

Notable collaborations include contributing Kreyòl lyrics and what described as “enchanting vocals” to drummer Charles Goold’s album (2024) and creating soundscapes for synth & voice in , their project with dancer Mackenzie Nye. An active bandleader and side-person Elliston has performed at venues such as Dizzy’s Club (USA), Smalls Jazz Club (USA), The Django (USA), The Washington Women in Jazz Festival (USA), Koncertkirken (DK), and The Victoria Jazz Festival (CAN).

Finn Carroll is a Montana-born bassist and improviser based in New York City. Her music straddles the past and future of folk, noise, and jazz to create a timeless sonic world. She studied with Reggie Workman and Mary Halvorson at The New School who instilled in her a reverence for tradition and an insatiable curiosity for new sounds. Carroll plays in a wide array of groups, from the punk-tinged folk band The Recession Special to her own jazz and ambient projects under the stage moniker Stovepipe Rides Again.

alana amore colvin (she/they) is a brooklyn based avant-garde guitarist, composer, and arranger. Their sound sits somewhere in the balance between soft intimate tones and raw distorted noise all in celebration of guitar and afro-folkloric traditions. Compared to Bill Frisell as often as she is compared to Jimi Hendrix and yet something different all together.
Colvin is a prominent fixture in the NYC downtown music scene. You can catch colvin playing with Ryan Easter’s Trap Music Orchestra and Selendis Alexander Sebastian Johnson’s Big Band. In smaller context she is 50% of the improv guitar duo, military kids (featuring Nathan Chamberlain), 33% of unspecified trio (featuring Connner Simmons & Sunjay Jayaram), and can often be found on the road with Lemuel Marc, Mali Obomsawin, and JoVia Armstrong, their debut EP, huckleberries & lullabies, is out everywhere except spotify.
