Originally founded in 2011 as a satirical 80s and 90s female power-vocal cover project, the band has transitioned since December of 2025 and the loss of a prior bandmate due to an injury, into writing, performing and recording original music under their own banner, Moms Gone Wrong LLC. The lineup is no longer all female but the band remains female fronted and the core of the music rests on the strong musical arrangements and bass lines of Janet Rogers and the lyricism, power vocals and theatrical stage presence of lead vocalist Dayann ("Moet") Molina.
Moms Gone Wrong gets its inspiration from late 1970s to early 1980s melodic punk, replete with doo-wop, rockabilly, 50's greaser style rock n roll, and blues influences. Dayann has described the band's sound as "the Shangri-Las, Richie Valens, or the Ronettes at Mach 11 speed with hard guitar power chords and some funk tossed in there for emphasis. It's music you can either mosh or do the twist to."
