João Mota Brazilian Jazz Trio featuring Manny Moreira

João Mota will take us on a musical journey through Brazil, exploring some of the country’s most iconic rhythms and composers. It will be a night full of energy, groove, and rich musical traditions, featuring styles such as samba, bossa nova, baião, ijexá, and more.

João Mota is a drummer, percussionist, and educator originally from São Paulo, Brazil. He began playing drums in church at the age of 12, a passion that led him to pursue music professionally. After moving to New York City in 2010 to earn his Master’s degree at the Aaron Copland School of Music, João has performed with acclaimed artists including Claudio Roditi, John Lee, Albert Rivera, Antonio Hart, Michael Mossman, Jackie Ribas, and the Big Beat Big Band, among many others. Alongside performing, he is deeply passionate about music education and inspiring younger generations through music.
