Journey for Change Walk is a community walk to raise awareness about veteran suicide and to stand together for hope, connection, and action. This year’s walk is especially meaningful as we honor the 10-year anniversary of the original Journey for Change effort, which began as a long-distance walk from Santa Cruz to Sacramento to bring attention to the urgent need for better support, resources, and awareness around veteran suicide. The original vision was to reduce veteran suicides through community action and awareness.
On May 25, 2026, we will gather in Santa Cruz and walk together as a visible sign of support for veterans, families, and all those affected by suicide. This walk is about remembering, honoring, and continuing the message that no veteran should feel alone, and that community matters.
Everyone is welcome. You do not need to do the entire walk to participate. You can walk one block, part of the route, the whole walk, join us wherever you can along the way, or simply meet us at the end in Capitola. What matters most is showing up in whatever way you are able.
We will meet at 8:30 a.m. in front of the Veterans Memorial Building, 842 Front Street, Santa Cruz, and finish around 11:00 a.m. at Capitola Beach at the Vets 4 Vets booth.
If you are not able to walk, you can still be part of Journey for Change by making a donation. Your support helps Vets 4 Vets continue building community, raising awareness, and standing with veterans who need connection, encouragement, and hope.
Together, we walk. Together, we remember. Together, we raise awareness.
