We are pleased to invite you to the panel, Media in Exile - taking place in the frame of the Mahalla Festival Memento at postane Istanbul on Saturday Nov 16 at 12:00 pm.
Turkey is often the first stop for many journalists who no longer work in their home countries because of authoritarian governments or war. Media organizations and foreign journalists have built a base in Istanbul to work from exile. Hear from journalists in person and the challenges they face reporting about their homelands.
Under the moderation of Fariba Nawa several journalists from Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, Russia, Germany and Denmark will discuss the aspect of exiled journalism and journalism under threat.

Participants: Christian Feiland, Susanna Inkinen, Narges Keshavarznia, Kerem S. Nachar, Nataliya Vasilyeva and Noor Ahmad Yurttash.

The panel will be organized in the frame of the Kite-Runner activities in cooperation with the International Media Support - IMS.
After the panel, we will have as well a video screening with a short video by Omid Idrak about the vision of migrants in Istanbul and a session about Sufism literature by Najib Sharifi from the Afghan Journalists Safety Committee.
