Singer Jonathan Karrant salutes the music of legendary lyricist Johnny Mercer. Mercer's compositions made a significant impact on the Great American Songbook, including songs like "Autumn Leaves", "Moon River", "Skylark" "Summer Wind" and so many more. Mercer was a top writer for Capital Records in the 1950's and 60's and collaborated with several iconic composers such as Henry Mancini, Johnny Mandael and Herold Arlen just to name a few. His songwriting was considered to be very prolific and provocative, creating word images through his lyrics, triggering thoughts and emotions. His songwriting has inspired the works of many lyricists such as Barry Manilow and Alan and Marilyn Bergman.
With a repertoire that spans classic jazz standards and contemporary interpretations, Karrant brings a modern elegance to the timeless genre of jazz. Karrant has recorded several of Mercer's songs and will be performing many of Mercer's most popular hits on September 14th, 2024.
Jonathan Karrant's album, “On and On” hit #4 on the Billboard Jazz charts and his album Live hit #2 on the iTunes Jazz Charts.
