Calgary-based trumpeter and pianist Jon Day brings a wide-ranging musical background to the trio setting, shaped by decades of performance, composition, and education. A graduate of McGill University, he has worked extensively across Canada and internationally as a bandleader, arranger, and sideman, performing at festivals such as the Montreal International Jazz Festival and collaborating with artists including PJ Perry, Don Thompson, Sean Jones, and Elizabeth Shepherd.
Known for his versatility across jazz, soul, and contemporary styles, Day’s music reflects a deep grounding in tradition alongside a flexible, ensemble-driven approach. In the trio format, he draws on this breadth of experience to create a set that emphasizes groove, interaction, and a strong sense of musical conversation.
