🌸 Get ready this spring for one of the most exciting and important events we host at British Swim School!From May 19–23, 2026, we’re celebrating Survival Week, and this quarter’s theme is Storybook Week!
During Survival Week, swimmers attend their regular lessons but practice vital water survival skills fully clothed. This experience helps children understand what it feels like to be in the water wearing everyday clothing—something that can happen during an accidental fall-in. Practicing this in a safe, controlled environment teaches kids how to stay calm, float, and get to safety.
đź‘• What to wear:
• Clothes over their swimsuit (shirt + shorts/pants)
• Storybook-themed outfits encouraged—anything inspired by their favorite character, color, or costume (kept pool-safe and comfortable!)
• No goggles this week
đź’ˇ Why Survival Week matters:
• Builds confidence in real-life water situations
• Helps children stay calm when clothes feel heavy in water
• Strengthens floating and breathing skills
• Reinforces water safety rules for both kids and parents
• Gives swimmers a chance to experience a safe “surprise” scenario
• It’s educational and fun!
Our instructors will guide each swimmer through level-appropriate survival exercises, answer safety questions, and help families understand how to stay safe in and around the water—both inside and outside our school.
