Unlike more dynamic styles of yoga like Ashtanga or Vinyasa, Yin yoga is practiced in a slow and passive way, focusing on holding poses rather than following through them.
LONGER HOLDS:
Poses are held for extended periods, typically 3-5 minutes, to allow the connective tissues to be gently stretched and lengthened.
PROP USE:
Props like blankets, blocks and bolsters are often used to support the body and deepen the stretch, allowing for a more comfortable and effective practice.
VARIETY OF POSES:
Poses can include forward bends, hip openers, side bends, and supported heart openers, often incorporating props for deeper stretches.
MEDITATION AND MINDFULNESS:
Yin yoga encourages a meditative state, allowing practitioners to focus on their breath, sensations in the body, and cultivate inner awareness.
FOCUS ON CONNECTIVE TISSUE:
Yin yoga specifically targets the connective tissues, aiming to improve flexibility, range of motion, and promote healing within the body.

All classes are for beginners and take place at Crescent Yoga Studio at St Anne’s Tennis Club FY8 2QH. The yoga studio is fully equipped so you don’t need to bring anything with you, unless you prefer to use your own mat and blanket etc.
- Tuesday evening 1.5-hour classes cost £10.
- Thursday evening 1-hour classes cost £8.
- Saturday morning regular yoga 1.5-hour classes cost £10.
- Special Event Saturday morning and Sunday evening classes cost £25.
