To tie in with our new display ‘Images of Italy’, Professor Sandra Kemp explores the groundbreaking work of photographer John Ruskin.About this Event
Professor Sandra Kemp will present the extraordinarily detailed work Ruskin took with daguerreotype photography between 1845 and 1858, described at the time as “the most marvellous invention of the century”.
Most of Ruskin’s work documents the buildings and landscapes he encountered during his travels across Europe. His daguerreotypes of Florence, Pisa and Venice will feature in our upcoming ‘Images of Italy’ exhibition. ‘Images of Italy’ will open on 16 May.
