Creative Sectors is a new series of events to help build connections between Edinburgh’s creative community and organisations and venues based in the city. A partnership between Creative Edinburgh and Business Gateway, we want to bridge divides and boost a stronger network of freelancers and businesses.

Our third event will focus on helping freelancers understand what opportunities exist in exhibition design, curation and gallery/museum engagement. The participants will learn what’s coming up at five major organisations we’ve partnered up with: the National Galleries of Scotland, Engage Scotland, Fruitmarket Gallery, National Museum of Scotland and Edinburgh International Art Festival.

Who are the teams who work behind the scenes at Scotland’s and Edinburgh’s organisations dedicated to working in the area of exhibition design, curation and engagement? What are the main opportunities that they offer to freelance creatives and how do they contribute to Edinburgh’s creative community?

Come along to learn what else you need to know as a creative practitioner looking for your next project as an exhibition designer, curator or engagement specialist. The event is designed to benefit particularly early-career individuals and will also cater to mid-level career practitioners.

How are we making sure this event is accessible?

CodeBase Edinburgh's Events Space is fully accessible to wheelchair users via the main entrance on Castle Terrace (37a Castle Terrace, Edinburgh EH1 2EL).

There will be no amplified music or bright lights used throughout the event.

There will not be a BSL interpretation at the event.

If you have other access requirements, please let us know during registration or get in touch with us directly, and we will do our very best to help.

CodeBase is situated in the heart of Edinburgh city which means there are several ways you can reach the venue. It is a 4-minute walk from the closest bus stop on Lothian Road and a 10-minute walk from the West End tram stop.

There is also an NCP car park situated right in front of the venue on Castle Terrace.

There is level access into the venue from Castle Terrace, with automatic double doors upon entering, and an accessible toilet inside the building. There is a lowered desk at reception. The entrance has "CodeBase" written in large type across the automatic doors.
