Avenue Baptist Church is marking its 150th anniversary with a series of live music events this June, bringing together award-winning performers, contemporary gospel acts and a nationally recognised entertainer for three evenings of music, community and fundraising.
The programme opens with John Fisher & IDMC Gospel Soul Choir, a multi-award-winning Christian-based choir led by acclaimed musical director John Fisher BEM.
Formed in the UK over 30 years ago, the choir blends gospel, soul, jazz and R&B influences to create an energetic and inspiring live experience, and has earned a reputation as one of the UK’s premier gospel choirs.
The first Gospel Choir to receive a MOBO nomination, they were also BBC Songs of Praise ‘Gospel Choir of the Year’ finalists and winners of both Premier Gospel Radio Gospel Choir of the Year and the Urban Music Award for Best Gospel Act.
The group has recorded numerous albums and singles and has performed across the UK and Europe, appearing at major venues and events including the London Olympics, where they performed with Heather Small.
With their joyful sound, rich harmonies and infectious energy, IDMC Gospel Soul Choir continues to inspire audiences with music that carries a message of love, hope, joy and peace. Join us for a powerful and uplifting evening of live gospel music, featuring rich harmonies, soulful performances and an atmosphere full of joy, energy and celebration.
Profits from this concert will be donated to Southend City Baptist Church (SCBC) to support their community meals programme this coming winter. These meals provide food, welcome and practical support for those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in our local area.
