John Dickson at the World's Room in Aberdeen

The World's Room is the haven for unaccompanied traditional singing. The guest starts off the evening with three songs followed by spots from the floor (chosen from whoever is in the audience) and then the guest finishes the half with another three songs. There is a short break followed by the same format in the second half.
Our guest is local singer, John Dickson, from Tarves. John’s roots are in the coal mining community of Midlothian where he was born and grew up. He then moved to the Scottish Borders in 1970 and took part in the local folk scene until he moved to Aberdeenshire in the early nineties. It was there that he discovered a love of Scottish bothy ballad and traditional singing and successfully competed in various competitions. He has made several appearances at the Bothy Ballad Champion of Champions Competition in Elgin and won the title in 2011. John is a founder member of Tarves Folk Club and a member of other clubs in the area, and is a popular guest at traditional music festivals.
John is delighted to have been invited to sing at the World's Room.
Entry £7 on the door (cash only), BYOB and there will be a raffle. Doors open 7.30pm.
