A BlueShore at CapU favourite, John Boutté’s shows are all about energy and soul. His gorgeous voice and deep groove make standards like “Fly Me To the Moon” fresh again. He can evoke Sam Cooke, but his spirit is all New Orleans. Local sensation Queer as Funk are renowned for their tight rhythm section, blazing horns, and fabulous vocals. The nonet brings together the city’s best musicians in a high-energy dance band, whose repertoire ranges from classics of the ’60s and ’70s (Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder) to contemporary pop favourites (Amy Winehouse, Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake).
