We are the Nathaniel H Pickett II Foundation, and we are running for mental health!
Join us for a run with scenic routes and feel-good activities for people of all ages. Choose between a 2.5K 5K or 10K to walk or run, and bring in the positive vibes with music, free food and wellness activities!

- Access to all of the day's festivities, including live music, giveaways and prizes, and wellness vendors with mindfulness workshops, yoga sessions, and resources for mental health support

JOG AND JAM FOR MENTAL HEALTH
ASSUMPTION OF RISK, RELEASE, AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY

1. Assumption of Risk
I acknowledge that participation in the Jog and Jam for Mental Health (including walking, running, and related activities) involves inherent risks, including, but not limited to: slips, falls, collisions with other participants, contact with vehicles, uneven surfaces, exposure to weather conditions, and the potential for injury or death.
I knowingly and voluntarily assume all risks associated with participation in this event, whether known or unknown, and accept full responsibility for any injury, illness, or damage that may result.
2. Waiver and Release of Liability
In consideration of being permitted to participate, I, on behalf of myself, my heirs, assigns, and personal representatives, hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue:
- The Nathaniel H. Pickett II Foundation
- The National Park Service
- Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park
- Carderock Recreation Area staff and representatives
- Event sponsors, volunteers, and contractors
- Their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents
from any and all claims, liabilities, or causes of action arising out of or related to participation in this event, including negligence.
3. Medical Authorization
I consent to receive medical treatment deemed necessary in the event of injury, accident, or illness during the event. I assume all responsibility for any medical costs incurred as a result.
4. Rules and Compliance
I agree to comply with all instructions, event rules, safety guidelines, and any applicable City of Washington, DC, and National Park Service regulations. Failure to do so may result in disqualification from the event.
5. Media Release
I grant permission to the Nathaniel H. Pickett II Foundation to use photographs, video, or other media taken during the event that may include my image for promotional or marketing purposes, without compensation or additional permission.
6.Food and Refreshments
I understand that food and beverages may be provided or made available at the event, including but not limited to water, snacks, breakfast items, grilled food, or other refreshments. I acknowledge that my decision to consume any food or beverage provided at or during the event is voluntary.
I understand that food may contain or come into contact with common allergens, including but not limited to dairy, eggs, wheat, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, or other ingredients. I accept full responsibility for determining whether any food or beverage is safe for me to consume based on my own allergies, dietary restrictions, medical conditions, or personal preferences.
By choosing to consume any food or beverage at the event, I voluntarily assume all risks related to consumption, including but not limited to allergic reactions, illness, injury, or other adverse effects. I agree to release, waive, and hold harmless The Nathaniel H. Pickett II Foundation, the National Park Service, Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park, Carderock Recreation Area staff and representatives, event sponsors, volunteers, vendors, contractors, and their respective officers, directors, employees, agents, and representatives from any and all claims, liability, damages, or expenses arising from or related to my consumption of food or beverages at the event.
7. Acknowledgment of Understanding
I have read this Assumption of Risk and Waiver and fully understand its terms. I understand that I am giving up substantial rights, including the right to sue, and sign it freely and voluntarily.
