Recently Nominated for the Mercury prize in 2025 Joe Webb is an extraordinarily gifted pianist and improviser who, taking inspiration from the flavour of 90's Brit-pop and adding references to his Welsh cultural roots, seamlessly blends traditional jazz with contemporary flair. His innovative approach breathes new life into classic jazz idioms, creating a sound that is both familiar and refreshingly original. The Joe Webb Trio's ability to amalgamate the old and the new has garnered them a deserved reputation for pushing the boundaries of jazz while respecting its rich heritage.
Born and raised in Wales, Joe Webb relocated to London in 2013, where he has since established himself as an active and influential figure in the music scene. His trio has toured the world including performances at Ronnie Scott's, Blue Note China, Jazzwoche Burghausen, and the London Jazz Festival.
Joe is known for his work with the acclaimed Kansas Smitty's as well as his recent collaborations with the Wynton Marsalis Quartet, showcasing his versatility and adaptability. Not only a remarkable performer, but he is also in high demand as a recording artist, showcasing his exceptional skills on both piano and Hammond organ.
Fuelled by a deep love for 90's guitar bands and an unwavering passion for football (with a slight obsession for Lionel Messi), Joe Webb brings a unique blend of influences to his music. He skillfully merges traditional piano mastery with a captivating rockstar persona, defying conventions and pushing the boundaries of contemporary jazz.

Following the success of his acclaimed EPs Collblanc and SET in early 2024, Joe Webb now unveils his highly anticipated full-length album Hamstrings & Hurricanes to critical acclaim.
This album not only fulfills the trio's early promise but firmly establishes them in a distinct and innovative position within the modern jazz landscape. Drawing inspiration from the emotive depth of 90's Brit-pop and his Welsh cultural roots, Webb infuses his music with a unique blend of nostalgia and originality, breathing new life into classic jazz while pushing its boundaries. Hamstrings & Hurricanes is a bold, continuous soundscape that showcases live trio improvisations and spontaneous creativity, confirming Joe Webb as a trailblazing force in jazz, poised to captivate the international stage with the support of influential fans like Jools Holland, Jamie Cullum, and Gilles Peterson.
"For the final track "Hiraeth" ("homesick" in Welsh) I wanted a more chilled version of Oasis' "Shakermaker". That era was the starting point of my love of music. I loved the way it made me feel. I started to get that same feeling when listening to Duke Ellington, Franz Liszt, Billie Holiday, Oscar Peterson, Blur, Art Tatum and the list goes on... Also, I should add that the handwriting on the album cover was inspired by the Oasis album cover "Definitely Maybe."
